Your next safe step
A patch of grass stays wet
What this usually means
A wet patch can come from a small leak, a station that is staying open, a broken sprinkler head, or a low spot that holds water. It does not always mean the whole system needs work.
What you can safely check yourself
- Look for the wettest spot and notice whether the water is around one sprinkler head, along a line, or in a low place.
- When the system is off, stand near the wet area and listen for water still moving.
- Look at the clock’s station list and note whether a station appears to be running when it should not be.
Safety: If you need to open anything at the house, turn the water off at the house first. Do not dig near utility lines.
What we would check
We would test the system for a leak, check where the water is coming from, and repair the leak, station, or sprinkler head that is causing the wet patch.
