Questions homeowners ask
Irrigation questions, answered
If your system is doing something odd, you're probably not the first to ask. Here are the questions Surprise homeowners bring us most — answered straight, with no guesswork.
01How much does an irrigation repair cost in Surprise?
Every yard is different, so we don't guess over the phone. We come out, find the actual cause, and give you the options in writing — usually more than one, so you can decide. You'll know what it costs before we start, and there's no obligation to book. Call or text (928) 530-7443.
02How do I know if I have a leak?
Three signs show up again and again: a soggy or strangely green patch that stays wet when nothing has run, a water bill that climbs without a change in your schedule, and a station that suddenly loses pressure. Any one of those is worth checking — water you're paying for and never seeing.
03One of my stations won't come on. What's wrong?
It's usually one of three things: the clock isn't sending the station a signal, the wire between the clock and the box out in the yard has a break, or the valve itself has failed. We test them in order, so you only pay to fix the one that's actually broken.
04My clock is showing a blank or blinking display. Can it be fixed?
We don't repair clocks — we replace them. Once a clock stops holding its schedule, especially after a power blip, repairing it just buys you a few weeks before the same thing happens. We'll match what you have, explain the replacement, and set the new schedule for your yard before we leave.
05Can you find a leak without digging up my whole yard?
Yes. We trace the line and find the section that's actually failing, so we open the smallest area possible. You'll see pictures of what we found as we go.
06Do I need to be home while you're working?
Not necessarily — a lot of homeowners aren't. What helps is access to the clock, the box out in the yard, and a working water supply. We send updates and pictures as the job moves along so you're never guessing.
07How soon can you get out here?
We keep our schedule tight and we show up when we say we will. Call or text (928) 530-7443 and we'll tell you honestly what the next opening looks like — we won't promise a time we can't keep.
08Do you charge for an evaluation?
Yes — we don't offer free estimates. There's a fee to come out and evaluate the whole system, and if you hire us for the work, that fee is applied to the job. You're not obligated to book anything. And if we look at it and the honest answer is that you don't need us yet, we'll tell you that too. Call or text (928) 530-7443 for the details.
09What is the thing on the side of the house, and do I need to do anything about it?
That's your backflow assembly. It keeps water from your irrigation system from ever flowing backwards into your household water. Arizona rules require it to be tested on a schedule, and the report has to be filed. We handle the testing and the required reporting so it doesn't become your problem. If you've had a notice in the mail about it, that's the one they mean.
10Should I repair my old clock or replace it?
Replace it. This is the one place we're firm. Older clocks stop holding their schedule reliably, and a clock that waters at the wrong times costs you more in water than a replacement costs. Bring us a picture of yours and we'll tell you what it is and what it takes to swap it.
11Do you work with HOA landscaping requirements?
We do — it comes up constantly in Surprise. We know how to keep your watering efficient and your lawn presentable within what your HOA expects. If you're not sure what you're allowed to change, ask us and we'll tell you what we've seen in your community.
12Why does my water bill go up in fall even though it's cooler?
The most common reason is a schedule that never got adjusted. When the seasons shift, the schedule that was right in July keeps running and overshoots. Shorter run times and fewer days per week usually fix it — and if the clock won't hold the new schedule, that's a replacement, not a repair.
13Do you only work on sprinklers, or drip and trees too?
Both. Sprinklers, drip lines, valves, clocks, the thing on the side of the house, and the landscaping they feed. We also do self-install tree and sod options — details are on our products page.
14Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, and we've been working Arizona yards for decades. We're Hunter Certified Experts and we use genuine parts, because a repair that fails next season isn't a repair.
15What areas do you serve?
Surprise is home, and we work throughout the northwest Valley. Call or text (928) 530-7443 and we'll tell you straight away whether we cover your address.
